End of Story

With a deep sadness I have to announce that I will no longer support this project.

Whoever is still using Secure Temple, please be careful as you will not be able to download this application from the Apple Store anymore. However, it should still work fine on your current devices even with new iOS version, still there is no guarantee.

I would strongly recommend to transfer your secrets to other secure places.

1.5.0 update

With this new update the new features come:

• update to new iOS version 9.2,
• new trial period: the Professional version for free!,
• new approach for presenting secure content (by dividing a string of characters by 4 (or 2 if it is digits only), which makes complicated passwords more readable,
• some minor defects fixed.

The new approach for presenting secure content

By default the dividing feature is not active and the content of the temple will be presented in standard mode, which is identical to how the user entered it.

 

But once the user allows this over the settings, the content will be presented differently. All strings which do not contain spaces and are mixed with digits and characters will be grouped by 4 with one space between. Strings, which contains only digits will be grouped by 2 with one space between.

I have noticed that this approach makes complicated password more readable.

1.4.0 update

With this new update the new features come:

The new approach for presenting secure content

Application will automatically divide plain text into the cell-like list, by taking the new line enter as a division point. This allows to use action buttons dedicated for specific line only. Thanks to this, One can hide password under the "*" filter or copy the entire line by pressing one button. Specially the last one seems to be convenient as sometimes selecting the whole password string was not that easy task. 

To create a new line you can use the very last (an empty) element on the list or edit any other by starting a new text line (pressing enter or next) at the end.

Once the password is hidden under the "*" filter, You can reveal it by tapping on the cell, as simply as that.

Some explanation to the used shortcuts:

• "<" - open/hide options,
• "C" - copy entire text,
• "E" - edit content,
• "H" or "!H" - hide or unhide text,
• "D" - delete entire content;

1.3.0 Update - be safe!

Finally I found time to make some improvements for Secure Temple. Today Apple accepted new version so everyone can update or install and try! - who knows maybe it will suit your needs :)

So what is changed?

• First of all I had to update Secure Temple to the newest iOS7 and believe me, a lot of changes had to be addressed.

• Second, but probably the most important change is the increased security. Previously the password to temple was handled by the iOS Keychain. According to Apple this is perfectly safe and this is true. But, if anyone uses a Jailbroken device, then the keychain is no longer safe. I have decided to remove such dependencies. Now user can be sure that his/her secrets are secured properly and fully!

• I have decided to start another trial period. Lets everyone try the full Professional version for free. This time the trial version is limited to 90 days! And everyone who updates or install 1.3.0 version before end of February 2014 can enjoy this promotion. 

My app doesn't cost much, what is the $4.99 (4.49 EUR)? one nice coffee? a beer in a club? really? and you pay only once! and I get small reward for my work :) Thank You!

• Some memory management improvements

I am very pleased to inform that the new version is now available on the App Store. The new version 1.2.2 includes:

• critical defect which could block application is fixed,
• memory management improved,
• performance improved,
• security increased by forcing a vail on inactive state,
• some minor defects fixed,
• Restore Upgrade to Pro - feature added.

Trial period: 720 hours (30 days)

Every user which (for free) downloads or updates Secure Temple application during defined time will have 720 hours (which is 30 days) to enjoy the Professional version.

Please notice that any changes with date and/or time on device may result in permanent cancellation of Trial period.

Information about remaining trial period is available in Secure Temple application.

Once the trial period is over, the application downgrades automatically to “Lite” version.

User can upgrade to Professional version at any times.

Strong Password

What is password actually? 

"a secret word or phrase that must be used to gain admission to a place."*

"a string of characters that allows access to a computer, interface, or system."*

From technical point of view, password can be used in many different ways, mostly it just allows an access to the resources but its role ends with simple comparison of strings. On the other hand, passwords are used as a key or "key to make a proper and complex key" which is used in data encryption process. 

The more complex (long and complicated) the password is the strongest the encryption will be. You should know that these makes the password strong:

• at least 6 characters
• contains small letters
• contains capital letters
• contains numbers
• contains symbols
• does not represent anyones birthday or any anniversary date
• does not represent anyones name or nickname
• better if it does not have any human meaning at all

Quite long list!

How to create the perfect password then? answer is simple, use a tool!

With this new update the Secure Temple application version 1.1.0 is equipped with password generator. How simple is it now? just press a button and you will have strong password candidate.

With this new update I have also introduced a new way to access the database - the Temple. One can make the Main Temple and define type of password to. If digital one is preferred (even if its not strong enough) by using randomly generated keyboard we can protect ourselves from 3rd party observers. Try it! let me know your opinion.
